Free Membership
 
Anyone can join ... It's completely FREE to join and you will receive your own personal NYC membership card which you need to bring to the library every time you come. A membership card issued by any library in North Yorkshire can be used at Gargrave.  If you lose your card and can't find it, the first replacement is free, thereafter there is a £1.50 charge.

Free Borrowing (for most things) 

It's completely FREE to borrow up to 10 of the following items - fiction books, non-fiction books, large print books, adults' books, children's books. They can be returned to any North Yorkshire Library. Items can be renewed online, by phone, or by visiting any North Yorkshire library.  

Items that Incur a Small Charge

Children's DVD's, CD's and Audio Books incur a small hire charge.

Reservations

Reserve any item that is in the North Yorkshire catalogue for just £1/title for any book ordered on an adult card (free reservations made on a junior card) and get it delivered to Gargrave Library. 

Pick a Subject 

We have books on every imaginable subject. We have sections for biographies, health, travel, gardening, history and local books on Yorkshire. We have classics, adventure, crime, family fiction, romance, historical fiction, fantasy, horror, quick reads. We have an extensive children's library with numerous good quality picture and board books, fiction for all ages from tiny babies right up to young adult, and a large non-fiction section with lots of informative and fun books. 

"100" Club

Membership is open to all individuals over the age of 18. The minimum number of members will be 50. The number of entries per member will be limited to 4.

The cost of membership is £2.50 per month payable by standing order.

A prize draw will be made in the library on the last Saturday of each month (in December, last Saturday before Christmas). There will be 3 prizes:-

  • 1st prize £50
  • 2nd prize £20
  • 3rd prize £10

Prizes in the Christmas draw in December each year will be doubled. The details of winners will be displayed on the library noticeboard.

Operation of the "100" club may be terminated at the discretion of the library's management committee at any time, and in any event, if:-

  • having started operation, membership falls below 40; 
  • the library ceases to operate. 
In the event of termination part way through a year, pro rata repayment of all monies received in advance will be made.

Home Library Service
 
This could be for you or somebody you know.  Deliveries are currently on alternate Monday afternoons.   You can choose to have a delivery once a fortnight or once a month, whichever suits you best. The number of books can be varied, but most people have 2 or 4.  The volunteers who deliver these books are DBS checked.
